Memorial Day in the Sunshine

On 26th April 2025 we celebrated our season-opening Memorial Day. The Memorial Day, our first club game of each season, remembers past members with a friendly, celebratory game of lawn bowls, followed by some delicious fish and chips in the clubhouse.

We welcome current members, new bowlers and spectators alike who were able to bask in the glorious Chiswick sunshine and watch as the games unfolded.

Following a minute's silence to remember past members, who will always be important to the success of our club, events got under way with a game of 'spider'. Here, all players circle the green and bowl a single wood towards a lone jack in the centre of the green. And we all bowl together!

Amid the chaos of 18 woods hurtling towards the jack, Andy Knott was victorious in being closest, and won himself a bottle of bubbly.

Next up, 6 teams of 3 played each other across 3 ends, moving between rinks, to determine an overall winner. Congratulations go to Kevin, Onder and Ron for picking up the biggest score! And commiserations (and a wooden spoon) to Andy T, Wendy and Fatma for propping up the table.

It was a wonderful day, followed by fish & chips in the bar. It was lovely to join members back on the green after winter. Here's to a fun season ahead!
